This study examined teachers’ perception on the influence of school leadership on their effectiveness in primary schools of Musoma municipality. The study specifically intended to examine teachers’ perception on the influence of school leadership in promoting teachers’ effectiveness. Likewise, the study explored the link between school head leadership and teachers’ effectiveness and identified leadership behaviors which promote teachers’ effectiveness. A mixed approach and exploratory sequential design was also employed. The study was conducted in three selected schools in Musoma municipal Council in Mara region. The target population was made up of three school heads, and thirty-five teachers in the selected schools. The study found that teachers had both negative and positive perceptions towards the school head leadership in selected areas. The study established the direct link between the school head leadership and teachers’ effectiveness. The school leadership behaviors which promote teachers’ effectiveness were supportiveness, motivation, problem-solving, teachers’ involvement, and good listening behavior. Based on these findings, the study has implications for school head leadership that they should strive to create a balanced working climate that would make teachers have positive perceptions towards them and improved their effectiveness. District Education Officers to work closely with school leaders to improve teachers’ effectiveness and government through policy makers need to rethink of how to help heads of school to portray positive image to their teachers. The study concluded by suggesting that, the teachers’ perceptions on effectiveness of school leadership to a great extent differed from one school to the other thus, the DEO, SHs together with teachers to see what needs to be done in order to eradicate this negative image and be able to influence teachers.
