Description:
The adoption of animal traction technology in
Tanzania is still low, and is increasing only
very slowly. Very few animal-drawn weeders
are in use. This paper examines various
constraints that affect the adoption of
animal-drawn weeders: farmers’ financial
limitations, socio-cultural constraints, small
farm sizes, institutional inadequacies and
farming practices. Alleviating such bottlenecks
might might increase farmers’ adoption of
animal-powered weeding technology
