dc.description This study focused on thecontribution of International organizations in enhancing food security: A case of World Food Programme in Chamwino District, Dodoma. The general objective of this study was to assess the contribution of World Food Programme in enhancing Food Security. The study specifically intended to (a) determine various strategies used by World Food Programme to solve food insecurity in Chamwino District, (b) examine how WFP strategies contribute to solving household food insecurity in study area, (c) assess people‟s perception of strategies used by WFP to solve food insecurity in the study area. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. A cross-sectional survey design was used and data were collected from different groups of respondents.The study involved 82 households and 18 key informants. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics in SPSS while qualitative data were analysed manually using a content analysis approach. The findings from the study revealed that 75.6 % of the respondents agreed that World Food Programme was contribute to food to the people while 21% of respondents did not agree and 3.4% of respondents neither agreed nor disagree that World Food Programme contribute to food in the study area. The study recommends that World Food Programme has contributed food to the people of Chamwino. Other contributions are training small farmer's process of storing after harvesting staples, market access, food for assets creation and nutrition and school meals for the purpose of enhancing food security. If all program offered by World Food Programme can be continuously. Then, food insecurity will end in Chamwino District.
