dc.description This study intended to investigate on the role of ICT in improving educational management and administration in Dodoma Municipality. The main objectives of the study were to investigate on the application of ICT in data and information storage for education management, to determine secondary school teacher’s performance of ICT application in educational management and to determine the barriers that hinder secondary school teacher’s practices of the ICT in educational management. The study was approached using mixed methods and involved sample size of 120 respondents including 100 Public Secondary School (PSS) teachers, 10 headmasters/mistresses and 10 education officers. Data was collected through questionnaires for PSS teachers an interview for PSS headmasters/headmistresses and education officers and then analyzed by both quantitative and qualitative means mainly using descriptive statistics and exploration building. The study has found out that, computers are the main ICT facilities available at schools. Similarly, it is the main ICT facility used for teaching purposes as well as educational management function. It was also uncovered that, there was inadequate application of ICT in teaching as well as education management because in some of the schools computers were few. In some cases, they were not there at all. In addition to that, several barriers were found to hinder teacher’s practices in the application of ICT. These included among others, lack of ICT facilities themselves, low government commitment and lack of teacher’s training on ICT matters. It was recommended to that, Government increases its level of commitment into making ICT applied effectively for teaching and for education management.
