This study examines the effort of government in empowerment of people with disability in Singida District. The study is specifically guided by three objectives, these are: 1. To identify challenges faced by people with disability in Singida District, 2. To assess the impact of Tanzania government efforts towards people with disability in Singida District and 3. To analyze measures taken by government towards empowerment of people with disability in Singida District. A sample of 114 respondents was used and these were randomly obtained from the society in the study area. The methods used in data collection are interviews and social survey whereby questionnaire, interview guide and documentary review were also applied as well as focus group discussion. The statistical package for social science (SPSS Version 15) was used for management of data and analysis as well as. The findings reveal that people with disability face a lot of challenges that are grouped in social, political, individual and economic challenges, government has been making some efforts to empower people with disability but there is still a challenge in implementing them and this causes inaccessibility of their needs; these entail food, clothing and shelter as well as employment, participation in budget planning, education and security. The findings further reveal that there are measures to be taken by the government that will help the elimination of challenges towards empowerment of PWDs but they are not prioritized in the favor of PWDs. However, the mass still have doubt in the government ability, and the speed with which these efforts are put in place with regards to the area to be covered, the government‟s efforts are not very much noticeable. Therefore; basing on the findings; it is recommended that; government should review policies on people with disability so as to ensure its implementation to meet their demands; the government should increase participation of PWDs in all activities from Low level to the national. Likewise, the Singida district council should work hand in hand with the central government to make sure that the implementation of the government’s plans and strategies towards empowerment of people with disability and ensure their conditions are made possible with proper allocations of funds and grants.
