dc.description Dissertation (Masters of Business Administration)
dc.description This study was conducted to examine farmers’ perception on adoption of rice post-harvest handling techniques and practices in Bahi District. Simple random, multistage and snowball sampling techniques were used to select the farmers. A well, structured questionnaire was used to obtain information from the respondents using both descriptive and inferential statistical tools. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to analyze data. The findings shows that, the highest number of the respondents were male and very few were female. The level of rice farmers’ perception on adoption of post-harvest technologies packages was negative, majority of the respondents agreed with the positive statements on adoption of post-harvest technologies, implying the possibility of high level of adoption of post-harvest technologies. The results also shows that perception is the problem which hinders most of the farmers to adopt the technology, there is availability of some of the technology which can be applied but most of the farmers still do not apply them. The study concluded that rice farmers had negative perception of PHT in the study area and therefore recommends that extension should make the technologies available along with training. Efforts should focus on sensitizing rice farmers and customizing the technologies that suit farmers’ situations.
