dc.description This study is about assessing government accountability in the education delivery for the case of secondary schools in Dodoma Municipality. The study involved a sample size of 75 respondents who were interviewed and filled questionnaire. This sample size was obtained by a purposeful sampling from each public secondary school selected. The objective of the study was to assess the government accountability in education delivery. Data were collected and analyzed by using descriptive statistical technique where it is was presented by using tables, charts, graphs and word statement. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16 was also used for data analysis. It has been argued that student performance and education policy implementation were ingredient factors for measuring government accountability in education delivery. Government is not successful in education delivery because of heartbreaking factors such as school management and leadership in public secondary schools. Moreover, the findings showed that causes responsible for the government failure in maintaining accountability, towards the delivery of education were teacher‟s low salaries, shortage of education funding which result to poor education stake holder‟s consideration in government. Furthermore, this study recommended to a policy, managerial, financial as well as academic to ensure that government was responsible in education, improve the school management and sponsorship in academic, classroom construction and teacher‟s salaries.
