This study is on assessment of strategies towards performance of human resource in
public sectors in Tanzania; Songea Urban District is the case study with an aim of
finding out whether proper strategies of human resources are well established. The
general objective of this study was to find out whether proper strategies of Human
Resource performance are well established in public sectors for delivery of good and
efficient public services in Tanzania. The specific objectives were; to asses strategies
towards performance of human resource in public sectors at Songea Urban District,
to analyze the problems hindering proper human resource performance in the public
sectors at Songea Urban District and to determine the importance of proper strategies
towards human resource performance in the public sectors at Songea Urban District.
A total of 50 respondents were included in the study. Data were collected through
questionnaires and interview and analysed by coding, editing, classification and
presented by tables and figures. The data were analysed by Statistical Package for
Social Sciences (SPSS) 12.0 Computer soft ware program.
The study found out that, the majority of public servant employees are not satisfied
with their jobs the reason which leads to employee poor performance. Among the
reasons is poor motivation, lack of training opportunities, low salary, poor working
environment, and little involvement in decision making and insufficient of
employees’ benefits are the factors of poor performance. The study recommends that
enough salary takes the first position to resolute followed by training, motivation
factors, and good working condition. |
