This study intended to find out the contribution of entrepreneurship to employment
opportunities. Unemployment has been serious and goes similar with unstable economy of
the country. It is vital to acknowledge the contribution of entrepreneurship to employment
opportunities due to increase of population and less employment placements. The view of
government as the sole employer which actually is misleading, privatization and minimal
State participation in the economy (1985 After Structural Adjustment policies) there are
number of people who faced retrenchment from public offices, thus they found self
employment in the private sector such as sole proprietors, partnership firms, employed in
private business companies or running their own companies gained importance than ever.
Furthermore, the study focused on entrepreneurship in various sectors in the contribution
of employment opportunities. The research involved various methods of data collection.
The study employed a descriptive and analytical survey and conceptual perspective as well
as previous researches done on the subject. The study was meant to find out the
contribution of entrepreneurship to employment opportunities, as a viable route to help
Tanzania to reach one of (MDG’S) Millennium Development Goals of reducing the rate of
unemployment, kinds of employment, to link entrepreneurship education and investment,
capital and form of investments, challenges underpinnings and future prospects on the
endeavour.
