dc.description The numbers of private hospitals are increasing in Tanzania since last decade particularly in Dodoma Municipality. This situation motivated the researcher to study community perception on quality health services in private hospitals .The study had the following objectives; to examine the demographic condition of the respondents in the study area, to examine factors that influence choice of private hospitals, to examine the availability and accessibility of services, to explore the issue of satisfaction and unsatisfactory together with analysis of quality and service charges. The study was conducted in Dodoma municipal, Tanzania. A multistage sampling method was applied in selecting number of respondents. A sample of 104 respondents were taken and randomly selected from the targeted area. Primary data were collected through questioners and interview schedule where secondary data were collected through journals, internet sources and reading various reports. Furthermore data collected were coded and analyzed using Software package for social sciences (SPSS version 13). The study reveals that about ¾ (72.1%) of total population prefer private hospitals although (57.7%) are satisfied with services and (42.3%) disagreed with services at private hospitals. Majority (68.3%) reported on availability of private hospitals at their place while most (58.7%) rate their quality as average. Moreover major findings shows, factors that influence the attendance in private hospitals are gender, age, economic status and distance from facilities. This kind of facilities play a major role in the development of the health sector however much consideration must be taken to make balance in affordability by considering rate of charges that goes hand in hand with actual standard of living for most of Tanzanians since private hospital much base on profit oriented than ensuring quality services.
