dc.description The objective of this study was to examine the influence of administrative leadership in the enhancing motivation of staff in local government authorities in Tanzania, a study of Moshi Municipal Council. The specific objectives included examining the effects of administrative inspiration in enhancing energized motivation of staff in local government authorities, evaluating the influence of appropriate administrative behaviors towards attainment of organizational goals among staff and finally to investigate the impact of administrative direction in achieving organizational goals. The study employed both qualitative and quantitative approaches, and a total number of 92 respondents were involved in the study. The methods used in data collection were interview, questionnaires and documentary review. The findings of the study revealed that administrative leadership leads to motivation in employees at Moshi Municipal Council. Field results further indicated that the motivation of employees depends on the way in which leaders lead their employees. The environment surrounding the work place of the employees also places a large part in motivational schemes for the employees. The administrative leaders should inspire their employees in the work place so that they can perform better and improve their performance. The study also revealed that some of the goals set by the administrative leaders cannot be attained by the employees of the local government authorities due to lack of resources in the work place. The study, therefore, recommends that the administrative leaders of Moshi Municipal Council should continue to find better methods of inspiring and motivating their employees and improving the employees work environment as this will influence the performance of employees.
