dc.description Willingness of employees to work positively towards company goals and their desire to remain in the organization for a long time are very important for the success of the organization. Therefore it is essential for the organization to have the knowledge about what motivates and satisfies the employees so as to generate such organization commitment in them. Aim of the study was to find out the motivation strategies which motivate the employees and to analyze employees respond towards those strategies and also to find out if there are barriers towards employees’ motivation and how to overcome them. The information was collected at Geological Survey of Tanzania. The study reveals that what is happening in GST do not represent what is happening in other organization with the same nature or where the same policy of work is applied. To succeed in doing this study, Literature researches as well as practical survey consisting of questionnaires and interviews were used. The study reveals that establishment of constant policy of employee promotion and training, involving employees in decision making, increasing retirement packages as well as empowering employees with authority within their working place are essential to organization motivation towards better performance. In additional the study recommends that those barriers hindering organization motivation should be eliminated for the better performance of the organization.
