dc.description The study sought to examine the functionality of public health service facilities at the local levels in Temeke municipality, Dar es Salaam. The main objective of the study was to assess the profundity functionality of public health service facilities in the contextual settings of Local Government Authorities in Tanzania, using the Temeke Municipality as a case study. Thus, the study attempted to examine usefulness and ability of the local public health facilities in provision of health services in the community by analyzing the extent to which customers are satisfied with the health service, availability of resources, awareness on issues concerning health care and coordination in the provision of health service. Literature review related to the study was presented whereby empirical literature review, theoretical literature review and conceptual framework helped to understand the relationship among variables related to the study. The study employed both descriptive and cross sectional design. Probability and non-probability sampling were also employed to obtain the sample size in which respondents were obtained from the community and workers who work in the Temeke Municipality. Data were collected through questionnaires, interview, observation and documentary review. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistical and analytical method which used Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The findings revealed that the level of functionality of health facilities at the local level is low because of different reasons such as shortage of resources, poor coordination and bureaucracy. Thus, the study recommends for further improvement of local health facilities because they are the major reliable health facilities in the provision of health service.
