The paper presents a prototype which strives to promote development and knowledge sharing among the agricultural researchers in Africa and the base of a case study of Tanzania. Its focus is on the application of both the open access and the community of practice as knowledge management (KM) approaches, in order to enhance the capturing and sharing of the agricultural knowledge to researchers, farmers and other stakeholders for the sustainable agricultural development in Africa. An exploratory survey, system analysis and ICT-based design are the used methodologies to convey the current state of knowledge sharing activities, assess the user requirements and develop the Agrinet-Tz prototype. Recommendations for further enhancement of the knowledge sharing culture among researchers through the developed system are also discussed.
