The cost of maintenance personnel constitutes the largest block in the costs of the maintenance department. In order to reduce the increasing costs of maintenance it is important to ascertain the personnel capacity requirement in this department. The main factors affecting the capacity requirement were determined and quantitatively analysed. This quantitative analysis was effected by means of simulation modelling using a simulation package SIMPLE++ and an empirical data collection.
