Description

The main objective of this study is to assess the performance of privatizing the revenue collection on financial strength towards the promotion of the social welfare and community well-being of all persons within the area of its jurisdiction particularly on education, health, roads and urban planning. The financial strength of any local government authority play a predominant role in the service delivery aspect as far as education, health, roads and urban planning facilities are concerned. Financial strength of the council is vital and holds a unique position in most economies as a connection of most social and economic services all over the country. The study has shown that the performance of revenue collection after privatization of revenue collection was more effective as compared to the performance of revenue collections before privatization pf revenue collection. Hence, Privatization of revenue sources gives not only good results in terms of revenue effectiveness but also gives enough revenue to finance development activities within local government authorities. The study recommended the following to be done, establishment of assessment section, Increase periodic survey to revenue collection centres, Review of Tax rulesImprovement of Social service quality.
