dc.description | Background: Globally, 72 million of people tested HIV in 2010. In Tanzania, a total of 3.37 million people tested for HIV and received their results in 2012. During 2013, 1.3 million people enrolled to CTC. Kisesa Ward has a population of 35,000 and 7% HIV prevalence. Among 1364 HIV positive people, only 169 enrolled to CTC in 2009. This study is estimating the uptake of enrolment into CTC by those who are newly diagnosed with HIV and factors associated with the enrollment. This is a key indicator in the UNAIDS global indicators for HIV treatment (see Figure1). Aim: To determine proportion of HIV positive people from VCT enrolled to CTC and factors associated with enrollment among Magu residents of age 15 and above 2015/2016 during Sero 8 survey in Kisesa Ward Methodology: Secondary data of a community-based longitudinal follow up study design will be conducted at Kisesa Ward, following the Sero 8 survey within 6 months in the Kisesa cohort. All HIV positive people from VCT aged 15 and above who are not enrolled in CTC, approximately ̴ 400 will be included in the analysis. The follow up period was 1 year. Data will be analyzed in STATA version 13. Bivariate logistic regression will be used to determine the unadjusted estimates with P-value<0.05 as a cutoff point of significance. Multivariate models will be used to assess odds ratio with their 95% confidence intervals to measure the strength of association. Significance: The findings that will be generated from this study will help to determine proportion of HIV positive people enrolled in CTC in serological-survey round 8 among Magu residents which will help policy makers, so that more steps can be taken to promote enrollment to CTC for HIV positive people in order to suppress viral load and to minimize HIV transmission. | |
