The purpose of this research work is to study How Non financial incentives are engaged to teachers, that is to examine to what extent non financial incentives are utilized in relation to the teacher’s motivation. Also the study aimed to determine whether non financial incentives contribute to teacher’s motivation and determine the types of non financial incentives that will motivate teachers. Incentives are any means that make an employee desire to better, try harder an expend more energy. Despite the facts that Zanzibar government put more effort on providing a good financial incentives to teachers but the turnover rate in Public secondary school tend to increase and the reason why this study is carried out is to look on the other side of non financial incentive in relation to teachers motivation. Non financial incentives include career development and Professional growth, participation in decision making, recognition and respect, effective supervision and effective communication, generally are the kinds of incentives that do not require direct payments of cash. To realize the objectives of the study, the study was conducted at Public Secondary School in Zanzibar Unguja urban district where four secondary school selected for the study and about 70 respondents were involved as study sample. According to the results of the study most of the teachers accept that non financial incentives had great contribution towards motivation, also the results shows that the level of employment of non financial incentives in most public secondary school was inadequate. The study suggests that the non financial incentives have a great value to such an extent it can be concluded that non financial incentives have potential positive contribution to teachers motivation.
