This study intended to investigate factors influencing choice of tourist destination and
attraction site among international tourists Also, the study intended to investigate
whether there is significant relationship between the levels of influence of different
attributes of the major factors seen to influence the consumer‟s choice of destination
and attraction sites.
The study also assessed the price sensitivity of the international tourist in purchase of
the destinations attraction sites and so assess if the costs of travel and stay in the
destination has a significant influence in the choice of the tourist destinations and
attraction sites. The study also assessed the level of influences of some other factors
like expectations of experiences, uniqueness of the attractions sites, etc.
The survey covered some Wildlife Protected Areas (Arusha National park, Manyara
National Park, Tarangire National Park, Kilimanjaro National Park), Hotels (Mt. Meru
Hotel, East Africa Hotel), Arusha Declaration Museum and Kilimanjaro International
Airport (KIA) which are allocated in the NTC and within Arusha and Kilimanjaro
regions.
The major findings from this study is that, among other factors, Quality experiences
expectations, uniqueness of the attraction sites in the NTC and costs of travel to and
stay in the destination are influential factors in influencing the choice of a particular
tourist destination and attraction site among international tourists. Also a positive and
significant influence of the factors quality experience expectations, uniqueness of the
attraction sites features and costs of travel to and stay at the destination was advocated
in the study findings.
The study recommended the reducing of the cost of travel by improving the
infrastructures at the destinations so as to easy accessibility and stay and also setting
reasonable prices and providing high quality services will increase the influences of
choice of NTC destinations and attraction sites of Tanzania among international
tourists.
