his study aimed investigating the role of small and medium enterprises on poverty
alleviation in Zanzibar. This research paper is organized into five chapters.
The research was conducted in Small and Medium enterprises (SME‟s) sectors,
financial institutions and the Government organizations which support SME‟s in
Zanzibar. The study covered Urban and Western Districts in Zanzibar. Two types of
data were collected primary and secondary by using questionnaire, interview,
observation and documentation.
Chapter one explains about the role of Small Business Enterprises on poverty
alleviation in Zanzibar. It comprises background and statement of the problem,
objectives of the study, research questions, and significance of the study, scope and
limitation of the study. Small Business Enterprises has big impact in poverty
alleviation among poor people.
Chapter two presents the theoretical literature review and empirical literature
review together with conceptual framework. The chapter also goes deep on what
previous researcher has been said, text books, internet and various published and
unpublished documents relating to the Role of Small Business Enterprises on
poverty alleviation in Zanzibar.
Chapter three presents various steps that were adopted by the researcher in studying
the research problem along with the logic behind them. In this essence, the chapter
three presents the research design, description of the study area, the study
population, the sampling frame and sample size, sampling techniques, types and
sources of data, data collection methods, and the way data will be analyzed and
presented.
The next chapter four presents various findings of the study in which the researcher
analyze during the collection of data in various areas of the study. The findings
prove that there has been a positive outcome of people engaging in entrepreneurial
activities which alleviate poverty at different level through getting daily income. |
