Award of the Masters in Business Administration in Corporate Management of
Mzumbe University.
This research was done with an objective of assessing the implementation of training
programs in private sectors. The intension of this research is to add information on
the available literature pertaining trainings that are conducted in private sector
companies at the same time help TTPL and other private companies understand on
how to better implement their training programs.
Different sources of literature were used to assist in acquiring information for this
research; books, other similar studies and surveys as well as the internet. The case
study design helped to get in depth information on the subject at hand as
questionnaires were distributed to employees of different calibers and interviews
were conducted to those with rich information concerning trainings that would
include the company‟s management as well as the Human Resources Personnel. This
research is both qualitative and quantitative as it required finding out attitudes and
numerical presentation of data obtained.
The key findings include that the existence of the policy emphasizes the importance
of maintaining a continuous learning program at TTPL but since employees at TTPL
are not aware of the existence of this policy then the whole implementation of these
trainings becomes a challenge because employees do not know the available
opportunities offered. Other findings showed that employees at TTPL were not
satisfied with the training program that currently existed and mostly this is due to the
fact that the Management does not give major priority into training programs as it
perceives training to be a minor issue to think about.
The study recommends that before any planning, the specific training needs should
be established to guide the whole training program so that each participant could
agree and eventually gain from that particular training. This means that both parties;
The company (TTPL) and its employees should play their part, TTPL‟s management
should make sure that the existing training policy is implemented and the training
program is followed at the same time more incentives should be linked to the
implementation and participation of these trainings as a form of motivation for
employees. Regardless, employees should also be proactive and make individual
efforts to excel and take advantage every training opportunity that comes their way.
