The study concentrated on effectiveness of the contributions of non government
organization on entrepreneurship development in Tanzania. The justification for the
study was that most studies on entrepreneurship development have been on the profit
oriented organization and almost none on the none profit based organization. Therefore,
there is very sparse coverage of NGOs and entrepreneurship development in Tanzania.
The study was carried out at Mwanza region specifically Ilemela district. The main
objective which study strives to achieve was effectiveness of non-governmental
organizations in entrepreneurship development. The study used survey study design.
The sample comprised 89 entrepreneurs, 11 Railway Children Africa officers. Primary
data were collected from the sample mentioned through questionnaires, observation, and
in-depth interview. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected.
Entrepreneurship development was an interest of the study with following indicator,
funds; entrepreneurship training; technical support and business counseling. Challenges
of the entrepreneurship development were budgets, staffs, external relationship, target
community and strategic planning. A constant comparative approach data and
descriptive statistical procedures involving cross tabulation and frequency distribution
were descriptively analyzed by using Data base and Microsoft excel.
The findings exposed that many business oriented projects meant to empower
entrepreneurs in almost all indicators. Non government organizations should build the
capacity to both men and women business groups with a view to professionalize their
service delivery. |
