dc.description Women entrepreneurs are the key to economic growth because they are generating employment. This study was designed to assess on the major factors affecting the micro and small enterprises performance among women entrepreneurs in Kinondoni district. A case study research designs was employed in this study in which qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. Both probability and non probability sampling was used to get respondents. By using 100 respondents, the study found that women entrepreneurs are facing problems in accessing to credit services and access to market service as the internal market is not reliable. Also, women entrepreneurs do not have access to business training opportunities, do not have an access to network and they are characterized by having little access to policymakers or representation on policymaking bodies, lack of confidence, lack of access to information, lack of cultural acceptance for the role of entrepreneurship; limited access to appropriate business premises; limited access to BDS; lack of collateral due to property ownership practices and lack of access to term loans. The study proposes to provide sufficient working capital to meet their needs, provide female entrepreneurs with business development service training, special loans, subsidies, funds, enterprise centers, entrepreneurship awards, counseling, advisory support, information products are the effective strategies that are designed to promote entrepreneurship among women. Finally the study recommends the government to empower women entrepreneurs through provision of credit at affordable loan condition terms, market facility, and entrepreneurship development agencies to provide training to women entrepreneurs and financial institutions to soften the loan conditions.
