The study used questionnaire and in-depth interviews. Secondary data were collected using various documentary sources. A total of 40 respondents were involved in the study. The findings indicate that majority of the youth who are involved in business are men. Most of them are between 20 to 29 years of age. The main causes for getting into bodaboda business include economic hardship and poverty; some of them are orphans due to the effects of HIV/AIDs pandemic. Challenges faced by riders include poor infrastructure, lack of education, frequent accidents and associated with crime. Cyclists may also endanger reproductive organs and eyesight together with the risk in developing respiratory diseases. Moreover, it was found other factors contributing to high accidents include: riding without without helmets, poor infrastructure, use of alcohol and drugs as well as high speed. It was also noted that bodaboda drivers have their associations which helped them when they are in problems. The study recommends that, entrepreneurship knowledge be provided to youth so that they can employ for themselves because the owners of the bodaboda seem to be few compared to the majority who are not the actual owners. Government should provide riding license on time. Awareness creation among bodaboda riders about road rules and regulations so as to reduce unnecessary accidents should be made.
