Financial inclusion has been the very major important topic toward achieving economic growth and that is why the government of Tanzania has been very keen toward the promotion and the development of the financial sector. The year 2014 turned to be the turning point of financial liberalization in Tanzania and since then the concept of financial inclusion has been in center of attention of financial institutions and policy makers. Despite of different efforts that are being placed, the number of adults who can access formal financial institutions in Tanzania is still behind the national goals of full inclusion where by currently only 65 percent of are formally financial included according to Finscope (2017). This study aimed at studying the impact of socio-economic factors on financial inclusion in Tanzania with the case study of informal workforce.
This study used purposive sampling technique and a sample of 100 individuals were selected. The research used a questionnaire and interviews to collect data. Data was analyzed descriptively using SPSS and presented inform of tables and graphs. Correlation analysis was run to check for interdependence among the factors. Finally, a regression analysis was conducted to estimate the relationship. The determination coefficient as measured by the adjusted R-squared presents was 86.8% which shown a strong correlation between the independent and dependent variables. This study has pointed out that a positive impact exists between socio-economic factors on financial inclusion in Tanzania.
