The focus of the study was to assess the internal factors affecting purchasing
performance in an organization. The objectives of the study were; to assess the
procurement planning affecting purchasing performance on an organization, to
evaluate employee’s competencies in procurement process affecting purchasing
performance on an organization, to assess the level of resource allocation affecting
the performance of purchasing on an organization and to evaluate procurement
procedures affecting the purchasing performance of an organization.
The study used a descriptive research design to illustrate the situation of the problem.
The research applied purpose sampling in obtaining a total of 80 participants from
Tanzania Post Corporation (TPC). The research study gathered both primary and
secondary data. Questionnaires and documentary reviews were the instruments used
to obtain these data. And with the help of the Social Science Statistical Package
(SPSS) software, data were analyzed.
The findings show that the procurement plan facilitates increasing the purchasing
performance of TPC as well as increase efficiency in procurement operations. The
results show that employee’s competencies in the procurement process increase the
purchasing performance. Moreover, effective resource allocation increases the
performance of purchasing in an organization. Lastly, unethical practices in
procurement operations hinder the flow of goods and services needed to provide end
products to consumers.
The researcher recommends that the organization should follow better procurement
plan, provide broad and professional training, act ethically and fairly, guarantee
appropriate distribution and implement procurement processes that can be monitored. |
