The main objective of this study was to understand the factors that influence procurement performance in procuring organizations. Based on the literature that was reviewed, four factors were identified, which were procurement planning, resource allocation, staff competency and contracts management as the factors that influence procurement performance. Based on these factors, four specific objectives of this study were developed. The first objective was to ascertain the influence of procurement planning on procurement performance. The second objective was to determine the influence of resource allocation on procurement performance. The third objective was to assess the influence of staff competency on procurement performance. The fourth objective was to understand the influence of contract management on procurement performance. To gather data, the researcher used both, primary and secondary sources of data. For primary data, the researcher used questionnaires distributed across different procuring entities. The second primary data collection method used by the researcher was interviewing, the results of which were used to triangulate the quantitative findings of the study. Primary data (questionnaires) were collected with a response rate of 93% having the sample size of 107. The method of data analysis used by the researcher was multiple linear regression analysis for quantitative analysis and grounded theory approach for qualitative. For the quantitative analysis, the researcher first checked that the assumption for conducting multiple regressions were met and then proceeded to carry out the multiple regression analysis. The findings of the study have concluded that procurement planning significantly influences procurement performance, resource allocation significantly influences procurement performance, staff competency significantly influences procurement performance and finally effective contracts management significantly influences procurement performance.
