This study aimed to examine how the parent-level influences the university student’s academic performance. The main objective of the study was to examine how parent education level influences the academic performance of university students in Mwanza city, Tanzania, in a significant way. Data from 70 university students who study diplomas or degrees were collected in the descriptive survey design using a questionnaire from 3 selected universities/colleges and within Mwanza city. To survey the respondents, a simple random sampling technique was used. The data were analyzed with the aid of regression analysis, the data is analyzed. The findings were explained in three forms; demographic information, descriptive and inferential analysis. The analytical results indicated that students from parents with higher education perform better than those from lesser education parents. Finally, suggestions were made to parents, teachers, policy-makers, and education administrators. |
