Tanzania is a democratic state which adheres to the rules of human right especially after the entrenchment of the Bill of Right in the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania. it is however unfortunate the said constitution stance is not reflected in the country`s laws whereby there is no law in the country that defines what is torture and still torture has not be criminalized. .But despite of the existing domestic and international laws; torture is still a reality in Tanzania as a state organ, that is to say police officer and other state agents without cloud of doubt do engage in torture including physical torture like beating for the aim of soliciting information and confession from suspecting of offences
