The study was aimed to assessthe effectiveness of GePG on revenue collection in public organizations, the specific objective was to examine the factors that influence the introduction of GePG on revenue collection in Pubic Organization, to examine the benefits of GePG to the stakeholders i.e Ministry of Finance and Planning and Service providers(SP) and to find out mechanism used to overcome challenges affect GePG on revenue in Public sectors.
A case study was conducted at Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) Headquarters Dar es salaam whereby interviews,questionnaires, and documentary reviews were used to collect both primary and secondary data from 30 respondents who comprise the Finance department, Planning department, Procurement, and Human resource department.Microsoft Excel and SPSS computer software were used as a tool for data analysis. The sample was selected by using a judgemental random and purposive sampling
The study reveals that GePG plays the vital role in the development of economic growth as it was shown that it contributes to ensuring the reliability and security of the revenue collection system of the organization, it facilitates the timely collection of revenue on behalf of services provider(SP), it provides timely of all revenue collected to appropriate SPs account maintained at BOT as per the contract with MOFP.
The study recommended that the Government should increase awareness on using GePG to execute transactions, in new technology innovation, the awareness becomes need to be technological out and bring harmony in technological usage. The Government and other entrusted government organs should strengthen the ICT environment for easier and prompt revenue collection. Government organizations should expand the necessary infrastructure by promoting the development of necessary technologies, recruiting experts, and expanding high-speed information network as this will foster a strong foundation of GePG.
