The concept of green supply chain management (GSCM) is gaining popularity in developing countries due to the environmental and economic impact along with increasing awareness of environmental safety.
The study was conducted at Motisun Holdings Group in Dar-es-salaam Tanzania. The study base on the assessment of the impacts of Green supply chain management practices adaptation towards manufacturing firm’s performance in Tanzania.
The study general objective was to assess the impacts of green supply chain management practice on manufacturing firm performance and the specific objectives were to determine the role of improved quality, reduced costs, and improved flexibility towards the manufacturing firm’s performance. Reduced costs were expected to have a positive influence on firm performance because the study aims to encourage the adaptation of GSCM practices.
The research methodology used in this study during data collection includes observation and a questionnaire that was designed and distributed to the respondent to get the required data. Also, data obtained were analyzed both quantitatively and and were tested in SPSS.
The study found that there is a significant relationship between all independent variables which was improved quality, reduced costs, and improved flexibility are significantly related to manufacturing firm performance.
The study recommends that Motisun Holdings group because has adopted GSCM should set the standard of quality which is very unique compares to that of competitors because the practice ensures that the quality of raw materials and final products is of high standards.
Finally, because operating costs are increasing in many manufacturing organization, GSCM practice such as recycling, green distribution, green packaging, internal environment management, and green procurement practice should be implemented effectively in the organization to reduce the cost of materials, labors, and transport
