A Compulsory Research Report Submitted to Mzumbe University – Mbeya Campus College in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for an Award of the Bachelor Degree of Laws (LL.B) of Mzumbe University.This study centers on examining the assessment of the law on the independence of Land Tribunals in dispensing justice in Tanzania basing on District Land and Housing Tribunal of Mbeya as a case study. The objective of this study was to make analysis of the existing Law in dispensing justice in the DLHT and to identify the impacts for the interference of independence of the tribunals in administration of justice. This research based on case study approach whereby an interview is used as a method of data collection, researcher also use internet sources to get wider knowledge in assessing the Law on the independence of the Land Tribunals in administration of justice in Tanzania. The authors have published various literatures that elaborate the challenges faced by the land tribunals in dispensing justice, but there is no literature which specifically address in detail on the independent of the DLHT in dispensing justice, the matter which is addressed on this study. It is revealed from the findings of the study that, the legal framework which governs the administration of justice in the land tribunals is inefficient in ensuring the independence of the tribunals in dispensation of justice. In regard is also recommended that the principle of independence of judiciary had to be observed to the extent that the tribunal be able to enter decisions without being influenced by any organ of state.
