The purpose of this study was to establish the actual situation concerning the administration of the juvenile justice system in the country, with a view of identifying possible points for influencing practical reform, and to establish the extent of administration or mal-administration of juvenile justice in the country. The findings of the present study are based on the data obtained in the course of this study through interviews to juvenile justice personnel. The thesis covers a short introduction, the areas covered by the research and the mode of data collection. The thesis accentuates the fundamental principles and standards of administration of juvenile justice with a view of providing a formidable foundation of gauging whether the country’s legal and practical usage operates in accord with these principles. The thesis also covers the legal administration of juvenile justice in Tanzania and its actual situation in Songea Municipality and critical analysis and findings of the research and it offers conclusion and recommendations.
