This research aims at evaluating the effectiveness of the law governing environmental protection to every citizen living in Tanzania. With regard to the preceding premises this research aims at evaluating the effectiveness of the laws governing environmental management as well as the supervising machinery in fulfilling such a basic need in so far as human’s life is concerned.
In so doing, the report has also discussed on the strengths and weaknesses of the laws governing environmental management. What are the legislative developments and their effectiveness, correlation of environmental protection and ways to strengthen control mechanisms through making a critical study from other jurisdictions.
To acquire the required data, the researcher employed field data collection methods as well as library research. The findings from the study indicate that, the weakness on the substantive part of the law such as non-establishment of effective institutions to deal with environmental protection, provision of weak punishments to polluters and lack of awareness by the society on the question of environmental protection led the increase of this problem in Tanzania. The paper further reveals the dangers of increase environmental pollution and on environmental perspective and lastly the researcher winds up by giving recommendations on what should be done to the environmental protection. Among of the recommendations are, there should be the centralized body formed for dealing with the question environmental protection, Application of the modern advanced, Environmental issues are to be given priority.
