This research titled “An Overview of The Impact of Environmental Conventions in Preventing and Controlling Air Pollution in Tanzania: A Case Study of Dar Es Salaam” this work has divided into five chapters in which chapter one is about general introduction, it contains; background of the problem, statement of the problem, objective of the study, hypotheses, significance of the study, literature review, research methodology also scope and limitation of the study. Chapter two is about conceptual framework, in which different concepts has been discussed to enable the reader to understand the topic in deep. Also, chapter three covers legal framework, whereby laws form international, regional and National level has been discussed in detail. Chapter four covers findings and data analysis, in this chapter data obtained have been presented which reveal that; the international environmental conventions are effective in protecting and controlling Air pollution in Tanzania, because these conventions have been incorporated in our laws and implemented in our country. But also, this research reveals that challenges facing the enforcement of environmental conventions in Tanzania are; limitations on applicability of international conventions on air pollution, lack of skillful personnel, ownership of interest by the superior government officers, poor education system to prevent air pollution and lack of binding force for the international conventions. Chapter five is conclusion and recommendations of the work. This work concludes that despite of having International Environmental Conventions together with National legislations air pollution remain to be a big problem in Tanzania due to different reasons such as corruption, limitations exist in the laws, poverty of the Country and lack of public awareness. It has been recommended that it is important to; Provide financial and scientific support to environmental personnel, minimize amount of chemicals production, Amendments of the laws, Government financial support, Provision of education to public environmental personnel and Environmental Impact Assessment should be conducted effective. |
