The main objective of this study is to assess the influence of information Technology (IT) on supply chain performance. The hypothesis for the study were prepared as according to the research model of the study. The model of the study included dependent and independent variables. Researcher suggest that the conceptual framework to cover two IT systems; EDI and EPR, supply chain integration as independent variables and supply chain performance as dependent variable. The study was conducted at TANESCO. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data.
The results support that both organization IT systems have influence supply chain performance. The research has shown that IT-based supply chain directly improve performance. It has been also observed that the use of Information Technology in the company supply chain improve overall business performance.
Researcher recommended that the company manager should not take for granted the IT resources, instead they are required to ensure that IT resources used effectively with supply chain integration so as to be able to provide quality electric supply service to Tanzanian people while at the same time the company may use its capabilities (IT and supply chain integration) to expand its electricity supply service elsewhere such as in Kenya, Uganda and other nearby countries with the purpose of maximizing their financial earning (profitability) .
