The study aimed to evaluate the Influence of Information Technology on the
performance of logistics firms in Tanzania. The study assessed how the System
Quality influences performance of logistics firms in Dar es Salaam City, evaluated
how the Information Quality influences performance of logistics firms in Dare s
Salaam City and determined how Service Quality influence performance of logistics
firms in Dar es Salaam City. The study used quantitative approach as it aimed by
measuring quantitatively the influence of IT on performance of logistics firms in
Tanzania. The study used cross-sectional survey method to evaluate the Influence of
Information Technology on the performance of logistics firms in Tanzania. A total of
90 respondents were chosen to participate in the survey, which are Managing
Directors, Tracking Officers, Transport Managers, Firm’s Managers, Logistics
Officers, Clearing & Forwarding Officers and Transporters from Logistics Firms in
Tanzania. The study considered respondents’ demographic information such as Age,
Working experience, number of employees in an organization, use of cargo tracking
system. Findings of this study revealed that all three independent variables (System
Quality, Information Quality and Service Quality) had positive effect (influence) on
performance of logistics firms in Tanzania. System Quality had influence
performance of logistics firms by 23.4%, Information Quality influence performance
of logistics firms by 28.3% and Service Quality influence performance of logistics
firms by 32.8%. Therefore all the factors were important for Logistics firms in
Tanzania, while all three factors contributes about 84% on the influence of
information technology on performance of logistics firms Tanzania. Also, the finding
indicated statistically significantly difference in Annual income After Electronic
tracking and Security System Adoption between firms, which have low, average and
high, very high number of employees uses electronic cargo tracking system.
Therefore the information shown big influence in Logistics firms in Tanzania and
technology is still grow Logistics Firms in Tanzania should bear with these
expectations, which might continue to have positive effect to their performance as
well
