The report is all about the reflections onchallenges facing Trade Union in Tanzania on protecting the rights of employees, Tanzania Union of Government and Health Employee (TUGHE) as the case study. The researcher employed both specific and random sampling techniques which made 10 respondents from different field. Data was collected through documentary reviews, questionnaires, and interviews. The general objective of the research was to reflect challenges facing Trade Unions in protecting the rights of employees. Apart from general objective, there are two specific objectives which were to examine the challenges facing TUGHE in protecting its employees and to examine the effectiveness of Trade Unions like TUGHE in protecting rights of employees. From the specific objectives, the researcher had two hypothesis; there are many challenges facing TUGHE in protecting its members and the functions of Trade Unions are ineffective in protecting its members. Finding of this study shows that there are a lot of challenges externally and internally the unions. The involvement of political parties and the government make the Trade Union not to be independent due to some interference. These Trade Unions in all means needs to be independent so as to be free to perform its duties well, but the presence of some pressure from political parties and the Government hinder these unions. Also apart from these external challenges, members from Trade Unions themselves together are the source of some challenges for stance, absence of solidarity among workers, having different goals among employees within the union also hinders the objectives of the unions. Apart from the fact that many employees are ignorant of their rights which trade unions need to protect for them also poor leadership has accelerated much on the development of some of Trade Unions. The study recommends that the Trade Unions should be independent, good governance in respect of human dignity, establishment of tribunal to settle dispute arose among employees, education to both employers and employees, financial support from the Government and unity and solidarity of employees so as to achieve their goals
