This research is on the problems encountered by external auditor in auditing companies in Tanzania with particular reference to TMC Associates, the main aim of this research work is to ascertain the nature of the problem the external auditors encounters in auditing Tanzanian companies and also to identify the causes of these problems. This report concentrates on external audit, done under TMCA. The topic under study has captivated attention of practitioners in accounting, audit assurance and finance as a whole. The research report comprises of five chapters, which entails the research objectives, the research problem identified, literature review, methodology adopted and results of the analysis, which are in essence answers to the research questions developed.
As reflected from the scenery of the research topic, a thorough exploratory study was conducted to ascertain the challenges facing external auditors during audit practice in the context of TMCA. The sources of data collection are from primary and secondary source of data collection. The primary data were gotten through the use of questionnaire and observation. The secondary data were gotten through, magazines, Government Journals and also text books. Then data collected were analyzed using simple percentage analysis provide the answers to the research questions.
From the data collected and analyzed some of the major findings of this research work includes auditors in Tanzania, even the more successful once find it very difficult to audit Tanzanian companies as a result of business activities, moral laxity, lack of adequate technical skill and training. Based on the findings of this research work, it is recommended that the Government, the auditors the users of auditor’s service, the public at large have the important roles to play to reduce this problem to its minimum rate. Some of the suggested recommendations includes setting audit fees in a manner that will ensure an effective external audit. |
