This research examines The National Environmental Management Council; a Legal Assessment on the Effectiveness of Environmental Law in Dispute Resolution in Tanzania. It touches various aspects it tends to look if the law faces any challenges in practical and how the disputes are handled. The research had objectives and questions in completion of the study. There are two categories of objectives that are general and specific. The objective of the study is to explore on the National Environmental Management Council in relation to environment if is effective in solving environmental issues in Tanzania, also it tends to look if the law faces any challenges in practical and how the disputes are handled. The objective of the study is to look onNational Environmental Management Council in relation to environment if is effective in solving environmental issues in Tanzania, also it tends to look if the law faces any challenges in practical and how the disputes are handled. To examine the effectiveness of the National Environment Management Council in resolving environmental disputes, to explores any possible challenges facing the national management council. Therefore, data collected reveals that the National Environmental Management Council is effective but there are challenges facing it. So the government should solve the said challenges by working on the recommendations given such as training of the Judges and Magistrate, establishment of the environmental Tribunal and High Court Environmental division, public education and participation, establishment of the environmental division in the Public Prosecution‟s Office so as to have effective environmental dispute resolution in Tanzania.
