This study focused on examination of application of individual, group and
organization requirements in recruiting suitable employees in the Tanzanian public
sector based on Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) as the case. The study
was guided by three specific objectives namely; examination of individual
requirements which facilitate recruitment of suitable employees in the public sector
of Tanzania, examination of group requirements which facilitate recruitment of
suitable employees in the public sector of Tanzania and examination of organization
requirements which facilitate recruitment of suitable employees in the public sector
of Tanzania. The study population comprised 89 employees of the organization. A
total of 73 respondents were selected using judgmental sampling method. Research
data were obtained by administering closed ended questionnaire and reviewing
relevant documents (job adverts for 2019) and were analyzed quantitatively using
descriptive statistics. The results were presented using tables, frequencies, numbers,
percentages and charts.
The findings showed that individual requirements such as good personal characters
and good personal integrity were the elements of OB which facilitated recruitment of
suitable employees in all job categories to the large extent. Also, group requirements
such as interpersonal communication were given preference during recruitment of
suitable employees on all job categories. However, group awareness and leadership
qualities were required more when recruiting new employees on the
management/leadership posts and senior posts compared to recruitment on the entry
posts. The organizational requirements which facilitated recruitment of suitable
employees were mainly the technology of the organization which was indicated by
computer applications skills sought in the new employee. Based on the results, the
study recommends that for recruiting new employees who fit their jobs, groups and
organizations, recruitment process should be based on the personal, group and
organization requirements sought in the candidates of job posts. |
