dc.description This study examined the effects of economic contribution of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in employment generation in Tanzania using Coca-Cola Kwanza as a case study. The study used primary data as well as secondary to obtain relevant information that guided the study findings. Primary data were obtained through open ended and structured questionnaires that were distributed to 20 employees at Coca-Cola Kwanza. Secondary data was obtained through government publications including the Integrated Labour Force Surveys, Economic Surveys, and policy documents from the government of Tanzania as well as publications from international organisations including UNCTAD, OECD and World Bank. Descriptive analysis was done in data analysis through a mixed approach of qualitative and quantitative data analysis approaches. The analysis was aided by a computer program in Excel. The findings reveal that, Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd from its inception in 1997 in the country has had a remarkable contribution to the employment creation in the country. The records indicate that Coca Cola Kwanza in Tanzania has been contributing significantly towards employment creation since its inception to date averaging at 700 local Tanzanians excluding experts and casual employees. The company has also been involved in corporate social responsibilities to a number of Tanzanians the activities which helps to create more employment opportunities in the community. The study concludes that, the effects of MNCs by taking the case of CocaCola Kwanza show a positive contribution to the national economy through creating employment and CSR activities that positively impact majority of beneficiaries to be self-sustainable and create more job opportunities. The study recommends for a number of interventions including; policy review and strengthening of business environment so as to allow a wider participation of MNCs; improve training and education to staff and enhancing the skills of local Tanzanians to be ready to utilise employment opportunities arising from MNCs.
