The study was to assess the effectiveness of the E-government services in revenue
collection in the operations of Local Government Offices in Tanzania. A case of
Kinondoni District Council.
The study was focused into various Objective of the study such as to determine
factors which will strengthen revenue collection in local government Authorities, To
identify existing and new sources of revenue and possible collection process in
Local Government Authorities and finally to identify ways to minimize revenue
leakages due to the measures on how the encounters being challenged can be
effectively spoken and finally to suggest possible measures on how the challenges
being faced can be effectively addressed.
The study employed a case study research design in addressing the study objectives;
data was collected from 120 respondents and from both the primary and secondary
sources through questionnaires, interviews and documentary reviews and data was
analyzed through the content analysis. Validity of the questionnaires was ensured
through judgment of experts while reliability was established through test and re-test
method during. The collected data was, edited, checked for completeness, coded,
classified and entered into Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS Version
22.0)for subsequent analysis. Regression analysis was used to measure the
relationship between dependent and independent variables.
The findings of the study has revealed that among the strategies used for enhancing
revenue collection through e-government is through strategic planning for egovernment systems, budgetary investments in E-government systems, training and
education among local government tax collectors
The study recommends that Kinondoni District-Council should ensure that all its
wards, departments and other related units are compelled by regulations to adopt eGovernment and other ensure management of revenue collection system to lead to
assurance total compliance to the budgets and there should be awareness campaigns
to ensure that the consumers get the right information as pertains to e-Government
revenue collection. |
