The study investigated factors influence performance of insurance company in
Tanzania. The study employed both qualitative and quantitative research approaches
in investigating the study problem. The study used descriptive study design on
analysing the study problem. The targeted population was insurance companies in
Tanzania. The consolidated report from TIRA from 2012 to 2018 was used together
data and analysed using descriptive, correlation matrix as well as regression analysis.
The study observed that insurance companies has been performing in terms of
general insurance business and long term assurance business in a country. The study
also found that size of insurance companies, leverage level, growth in written
premium, and age of insurance companies, loss ratio, human resources competence
and technological competence are the factors influence performance of insurance
companies in Tanzania. The study has observed that size of the insurance companies,
leverage, growth in written premium, age and human resources competence are
positively significant factors contributing performance of insurance companies in
Tanzania while loss ratio and technological competence positively insignificant
contributors toward performance of insurance companies in Tanzania. The study
found that there are needs to take policy measures to expand the provision of both
general insurance business and long term assurance business in order to
accommodate large percent of Tanzania population who are not accessing insurance
services. The policy measures have to open more policy directive toward promoting
and attracting more investors in insurance services particularly in rural areas.
The study recommends that qualitative measures of performance has to be also
looked in order to ensure whether the services provided in insurance industry in
Tanzania observe quality assurance and customer satisfactions. Also the investments
in insurance activities have to be policy centred in order to accommodate more
Tanzanians accessing insurance services. |
