This research aimed at assessing the impact of Total Quality Management (TQM) on
organization performance a case study of banking sector in Tanzania. Total Quality
Management centers effective participation of both junior and senior members of
organization, adhering to quality which delivers customer satisfaction and benefits
for long term success. The study was conducted in Dar es Salaam city in Tanzania
because many banks are in Dar Es Salaam. About 120 of respondents were selected
from different banks.
The study used questionnaire to collect data. Data were collected and analyzed using
descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The study applied purposive sampling
techniques to select respondents and banks. A Statistical Package for Social Sciences
was used to analyze raw data.
The study revealed that management participation has influence on organization
performance to a large extent. In addition, findings demonstrate that there is strong
correlation between continuous improvement and organization performance.
However, employees’ involvement and teamwork have little significance on
organization performance. The study concluded that, no matter contextual difference
of TQM implementation, TQM has impact on organization performance.
This study was conducted limiting selective Banks that’s ABSA, CRDB, NMB, NBC
and STANBIC in Dar es Salaam alone. It is therefore recommended that the same
research works can be conducted to include all Banks available in Tanzania across all
regions to improve the outcomes.
