This study intended to assess the effect of relationship management on performance
of construction projects in Tanzania. The study had four specific objectives which
include; determining the effects of communication on performance of construction
project, to find out the effect of trust on performance of construction project, to
examine the effects of commitment on performance of construction project and to
determine the effect of independency on performance of construction project. The
study was conducted at NHC-HQ. The study was guided by two theories such as social
exchange theory and network theory. Researcher used descriptive research design as
type of research design where the information was obtained from a single unit which
is NHC. The targeted population of this study was the employees of NHC where by
the researcher used a sample of 57 respondents. Data were collected through
questionnaire and interview. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis such
as frequency and percentage while inferential analysis which included correlation and
regression was used to establish the relationship between the independent variables
and dependent variable. The finding revealed that there was a strong positive
relationship between communication and performance of construction project at pvalue=0.000 (P<0.05).Also it was revealed that trust had positive effect on the
performance of construction project withP-value=0.011(P<0.05). In other side
commitment was viewed to play a great role on the performance of construction
project and had a positive effect on performance at P-value 0.026 (P<0.05)and lastly
the study found that there was positive effect between independency and performance
of construction project0.041(P<0.05). From the study finding it was recommended
that government should sufficient enhance and promote good communication skills
and improve the communication equipment at NHC, also organization should promote
and enhance high level of trust with contractors who serves organizational
requirements for the purpose of enhancing good performance and the organization
should be committed at serving requirements as per agreement and aim at archieving
good performance. |
