The general objective of the study was to assess the role of strategic supply chain
management in ensuring successful completion of public projects. A case of Tanzania
Buildings Agency Head Quarters; The study was guided by four specific objectives
which were to determine cost reduction approaches in ensuring successful project
completion in the public sector, to find out the accuracy of management of information
in ensuring project completion in public sector, to examine the relationship between
the flow of physical materials and project completion of the public sector and to
determine the order processing management in ensuring project completion in the
public sector. The study used descriptive research design in describing the role of
supply chain management in ensuring successful project completion public sector.
The sample size was achieved through convenience sampling proceedings and the
researcher obtained 45 respondents who were the employees from Tanzania Building
Agency (TBA). Data were collected through questionnaires whereby the researcher
provided the employees the questionnaires, interview methods in which the researcher
conducted interviews with the management representatives and documentary review
sources from various organization reports and journals that have a direct and indirect
relationship to the study. Data collected were analyzed quantitatively through
descriptive analysis and it was aided with Statistical Package for Social Science
(SPSS).
The findings of the study show that costs management approaches are used by the
organization and they are in line with the strategic role of the supply chain in the
organization while order processing management had a closer relationship with
information management within the supply chain members. The study concluded the
strengthen costs management approaches emphasis in the supply chain, the flow of
materials in accordance with the requirements and information provided by the
members. The recommendations were more unique strategies that should be
formulated and implemented basing on the supply chain costs, information flow, and
physical flow of materials in the chain. |
