dc.description A Dissertation Submitted in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Masters of Business Administration in Corporate Management (MBA-CM) of Mzumbe University
dc.description Provided that the increase in production and export of bee products is essential for boosting up the Tanzania economy and the government of Tanzania has put on its agenda the need to develop beekeeping as one of the strategy to reduce poverty, still the growth of the export market on bee products is slow and declining. This study therefore aimed at assessing the opportunities and challenges of honey exportation and other bee products in Tanzania and evaluated the current performance of the bee product export market for enhancing future trade. Honey and other bee products exporters in Dar es Salaam were studied and data were collected from eighty (80) respondents included exporters of bee products, retailers, TFS staff and academicians. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and multiple regressions. The findings of this study indicated that due to the presence of good forest coverage, extension services and a variety of different species of vegetations which support production of bee products the export market in Tanzania is possible and can grow and gain competitive position in the international markets. However, the study revealed that market instability and expensiveness of tax are the main hindrances of the export of honey and other bee products in Tanzania. Therefore, study recommends that, training and development should be provided to exporters as well as the beekeepers. Every potential district for beekeeping should have collection centres for the bee products, tax reduction and stabilization of market though special agents will encourage traders and other beekeepers. By so doing the export of honey and other bee products will expand and grow in great extent.
