dc.description |
The study set out to assess the challenges hindering the adoption of e-government initiatives on the public sector in Tanzania, with reference to the Tanzania Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA). The study relied on a mixed methods approach, combing both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The researcher employed both probability and non-probability sampling technique, particularly simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques while sampling for the respondents. Questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. Findings have demonstrated that majority of the respondents indicated that that lack requisite IT skills affected effective implementation of e-government initiatives in the public services. The respondents showed that issues of reliable networks and communication gadgets were still an issue impeding implementation of e-government initiatives. Majority of the respondents have indicated that issues related to security and privacy has made them to drag feet when it comes to implementation of e-government initiatives. The challenge affecting effective implementation of e-government initiatives in the public service was IT policy. Since the study has already heighted the importance of e-government in various respects, there is an urgent need to continue rolling out more e-government initiatives without any fears in order to improve services delivery. |
