Abstract
This dissertation researches into the historical development of the TTB as an instrument for
Promoting tourism in Tanzania since it has establish in 1992. The purpose of the study was to find out how TTB has worked with the tourism sector in
Tanzania, to determine ways/methods used by TTB to promote tourism sector, to know other
duties done by TTB apart from tourism sector and examine obstacles facing by TTB in
promoting tourism sector in Tanzania.
The research used descriptive research design. The main sources of data in the study included
electronic journalists (respondents) and different TTB documentations,
Questionnaires, Mail Questionnaire, documentation analysis and observation were used to collect
data which was then coded and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists
(SPSS).
Among the findings it was revealed that TTB is using the means and methods of electronic
media, word of mouth and print media to promote tourism those detailed information explains
how its promotion on tourism has recently been higher compared to the previous years. The
researcher find that the historical development of TTB as an instrument for promoting tourism in
Tanzania has generally been good. It faces great competition thus will continued to play an
important role in the Tanzanian economy
